The Smart Revolution in Car Accessories
Tuesday, June 5, 2018
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
Arthur C. Clarke
Smart technology is infiltrating and taking over almost every domain known to man. Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, ‘the internet of things’ and other smart gadgetry are only a glimpse of what awaits the future generations. The car accessories industry has been no different, witnessing some of the most fascinating innovations ever. Although most of these developments have been around for some time now, their need is only being highlighted more in the present day.
There are a variety of smart accessories and equipment that come standard in many high-end luxury cars or even in more affordable models, however, if your car is not equipped with some of these you can easily opt for having them fitted post-purchase.
GPS Navigation
Google or Apple maps and navigation softwares in general have made a world of difference to human lives solving the age old problem of getting lost in new places. Most cars these days come factory equipped with a state of the art navigation system but if your car didn’t you can always head own to the dealer and have one installed in it. There are a variety of types and models that are available for in navigation systems that come with a variety of features.
What is smart about a navigation system you might ask? Well, the simple fact of the matter is the options that are increasingly being introduced in these systems is the incredible part. Bluetooth control, voice activation, steering wheel control, etc., are becoming more advanced with every passing day allowing navigation systems to perform a host of other functions seamlessly and effectively making life much easier for the driver.
Remote Starters
Remote starters have evolved rapidly with the rise in popularity of the smartphone. Studies indicate that an average human being spends around 5 hours of their waking time on their cellphones and as a result they love to control everything from it. Home appliances, vehicles themselves and a host of other things can now be accessed quite conveniently on a smartphone. As a result, therefore, automotive accessories like starters and immobilizers have also gone mobile.
These remote starters allow a lot more than just lock or unlock your car. They allow you to access the entire vehicle and control a variety of functions for a considerable distance.
Homelink Systems
Besides smartphones, cars themselves are like second homes to certain individuals. More so, certain equipment and appliances inside the house need to be accessed remotely and this can be a hassle a number of times like for instance closing the garage door while you’re the only one home or have an issue with manual labor. Homelink systems connect to RF activated devices inside your home from your car or your mobile phone allowing convenient access to a forgotten or out of reach chore.
Technology is getting smarter as humans are infusing pieces of their own genius into them allowing them to control more and more functions and operations that previously required manual effort. The case is no different with cars and the possibilities are just incredible.
